Pine cones and Christmas

Pine cones ensure the population growth of pine trees having both surprisingly female and male cones (though you may wonder how pine trees multiply since they do not bear fruit). The male cone dies after releasing its pollen in search for a prepared mate. The female cone on the other hand are larger than their male counterparts. It spreads its scales where its ovules are found and falls on the ground to free the seeds.

This naked produce of Mother nature has also made it to the Christmas season to help us adorn our humble abodes and turn them into glamorous houses. Having this bountiful creation is eco-friendly because this is produced naturally and budget wise since you can either buy pine cones at much lower cost or pick them up for those who live in pine tree abundant places. But some don't enjoy the sight of pine cones perhaps because of its bold, earthy and single appearance.

But before doing any crafts with this pine cone, several things had to be done to ensure the longevity of the existence of this decor since this was cultivated naturally, hence natural things may have inhabited the cone.

How to Prepare & Preserve Pine Cone

There are endless ways to transform this simple looking nature's gift to elegant ornaments and decoration for Christmas trees, for center pieces or for wreaths. You can either:

• dip it in red, green, blue, or gold wax or paints then sprinkle with glitter before the wax/paint dries
• spray paint it
• gild it, meaning cover it thinly with gold
• boldly coat it with varnish
• do a project with it

•  i.e. make garlands by poking whole on top and at the bottom of the your pine cones and then thread silver beads or any beads you wish to attach to your pine cones then dab it with glue to hold it in place. You can design your own bead to be attached with your pine cones with resins, too! Then use fine ribbon that matches your beads to hang your pine cones. You can also wax/paint/spray your pine cones before crafting your garlands.

• You can also hot glue ribbons on the bottoms of the pine cone and hang it on your cabinet doors or tie singly tie 8-12 bold or painted pine cones then tie them together on your front porch.

There are also available resin made pine cones on the store in different colors but this might cost a lot and the aesthetics that the natural pine cone offers is not captured in this resin- made pine cones.

Because of Accugrain technology, this invention was made perfect. Accugrain gave the fiberglass a wooden door finish by casting process using multiple dies.

• This material is durable and can withstand changing weather conditions from coldest weather of the arctic region to the warmest weather of the tropical region.
• Unlike wood that shrinks during warm/hot season or expand during cold/rainy season, and steel which in time can rust, or dent or warp for both materials.

• Using fiberglass doors can be energy saving since this can be installed with polyurethane foam which offers more energy efficiency. 
  • Aside from the energy efficiency it offers, fiberglass doors also render less maintenance.
• It is also Eco-friendly because the more houses that use fiberglass, the lesser the use of wooden doors and the lesser the trees to be cut to produce these wooden doors.
